Adult Self-Care for Colds and Flu I

Too many people get sick with colds and flus, and too many don't take care of it the proper way. Not that there is a 'proper' way, or that I'm a doctor, but I believe there are some basic essentials that everyone should know.
I wont finish it all in one post, so here's the intro:

Colds and flus aren't treated with antibiotics- so what can you do? Help your body heal itself. Always always start with drinking 8 glasses of liquids/day- juices, water, soup, and get plenty of rest!

Be Kind with Your Nose!
A stuffed nose that starts running is a good sign- all that bad stuff needs to go out!

Wet heat
Inhalating steam by covering your head with a towel and forming an open tent over a pot of boiling water can help ease the nasal congestion. Alternatively, you can stand in a hot shower. You can burn yourself easily if you put your face too close to the boiling water- Be careful!

Medication

  • Saline nasal sprays
  • Decongestant tablets
  • Antihistamines to dry up runny nose
